Let us eat the potentially delicious Egyptian tomb cheese.
The Issue
The recent discovery of ancient diseased cheese in the tomb of Ptahmes, the former Mayor of Memphis, Egypt creates a rare opportunity to eat some delicious ancient cheese.
Sure, we have a long history of discovering old cheese in peat bogs, but bog cheese is so last year. This is 2018 and this time calls for bold decisive acts and the bold rich flavour of ancient cheese plucked from the depths of a dark tomb.
The cheese has also been found to carry a deadly disease, a rare artisanal strain of brucellosis. But the possibility of cheese-borne illness is a risk we are willing to take in order to slap that miracle of dairy between two pieces of bread with some butter and grill it up. (Possibly served with a glass of carbonated, caffeinated dark sarcophagus fluid.)
