✸ The Town of Amherst Proposes a Landmark Wireless Communication Moratorium Resolution! ✸

Amherst residents have spoken and the Town Board has listened! This Monday, May 8, 2017, at 7pm, the Amherst Town Board will vote on RESOLUTION 2017-511: Wireless Communication Moratorium. If approved, the resolution "directs the Town Attorney’s Office to draft a local law imposing a 140 day moratorium on final decisions on all applications for the installation of new cell towers and applications for DAS antenna system and other “small cell” systems installed on utility poles in the public-right of way; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the public hearing on this local law be scheduled for June 5, 2017.” (See Photo) Other important and related wireless resolutions that will be voted on the evening of May 8th: RES-2017-518: Re-Issuing a Request for Proposal for Wireless Telecommunication Consulting Services RES-2017-520 : Direct the Town Attorney to Draft a Local Law Amending the Provisions of Chapter 203, Section 6-7 of the Town of Amherst Telecommunications Code RES-2017-524: Wireless Telecommunications Advisory Committee Link to the May 8, 2017, Town Board Agenda: http://amherstny.iqm2.com/Citizens/Detail_Meeting.aspx?ID=2824 Please consider attending Monday night’s meeting and delivering a statement of support during public expression for these positive and proactive resolutions.
