When we set out to build the movement to demand Proportional Representation (PR), we were determined to fund it through grass-roots support. A large part of the Make Votes Matter budget comes from donations from people like you, who share a feeling of deep frustration with our First Past the Post electoral system and a determination to establish true democracy in the House of Commons in their lifetime.

Today, thousands of volunteers as well as a core team of staff make up a powerful grass-roots movement making the case for PR like never before. We are proud of what we have been able to achieve with a tiny budget, but we also see plenty of opportunities to amplify our message if the movement had access to more resources. This is why we have been overwhelmed at the generosity of our supporters over the last weeks, and are hopeful that we still might hit our stretch target of £50,000, which would make the world of difference to the campaign.
