27 apr 2016 — https://www.facebook.com/events/1732795900291616/ On Saturday 7th May we are holding a Demo for Democracy near to the Houses of Parliament in Westminster. The location of this demonstration is now confirmed to be Old Palace Yard, in front of Westminster Abbey, opposite the Houses of Parliament. On the anniversary of the most disproportionate election in British history we will unite to call for all voters to be fairly represented in our Parliament and for the establishment of genuine democracy in the UK. There will be speakers from across the political spectrum, live music, creative actions and lots of fun! Speakers already confirmed include: Natalie Bennett, Leader, Green Party Baroness Sal Brinton, President, Liberal Democrats Diane James MEP, UK Independence Party Stewart McDonald MP, Scottish National Party Cllr Marianne Overton, LGA Vice-Chairman & Independent Group Leader Alex Runswick, Director, Unlock Democracy John Strafford, Vice Chairman, Conservative Action for Electoral Reform Owen Winter MYP, Spokesperson, Make Votes Matter Phil Cooper will be performing his music live on stage, with a very relevant message... Like our last demo in July 2015, this will be a family-friendly day to call for change in a manner fitting to the inclusive, cooperative political system we are going to build. This will be the first annual Make Votes Matter Day, which we will mark each year until we make every vote matter! Save the date. Spread the word.
