In 2016 Cyclone Vardah hit near Chennai and brought Heavy Rain, which flooded Thazhambur, as 39 cm of rain was recorded at Sathyabhama college, in the nearby area.

This cyclone uprooted trees, electric posts and brought great damage to public and private property.

No action by the government was taken for this year also.
