The Quadra/McKenzie Plan was the feature of the front page of the Real Estate section of the Globe and Mail, this Friday Feb 7, 2025
Residents gear up for a fight as Saanich feels the growing pains of density - The Globe and Mail
Both the creator of this petition myself Sasha Izard, and also Stuart Stark a founder of the Save Our Saanich website and also the Stop the Saanich Quadra McKenzie Plan Petition another petition with over 4000 signatures were interviewed, along with Kevin Neary of Save Our Saanich.
So with 2 petitions cumulatively with well over 9000 signatures in opposition to the QMP or aspects of it, and National Coverage of the issue, we have good momentum heading into Tuesday. The crucial next test will be for the public to take part in overwhelming numbers.
Homes For Living a third party electoral organization that endorsed 5 of the current Council members in the last election, that pushes a construction agenda, supports the plan, and has called on its members to attend regardless if they live in Saanich or not, asking them to register first so that they speak first.
We should not be surprised then if proponents of the plan regardless if they live in the District or not (Saanich no longer requires identifying place of residence for speakers), get much of the first 15 or so speaking spots, a maneuver that has been repeated on a number of occasions in the past. Hopefully though they will be followed by hundreds of opponents to the plan.
The following will be deliberated on in the Saanich council chambers at Saanich City Hall at 770 Vernon Avenue on Tuesday February 11, 2025 starting at 6:00PM

Once again, thank you for all your support. This Tuesday will be critical. Please take part!!!! With enough pressure, Saanich Council can be compelled to back down on a critically flawed plan, the consequences of which are likely to affect our district, irreversibly for the future.
