Dear Supporters:
I have returned from an appointment with the Interim VP for Student Life at TWU. Her office had contacted me for an appointment. We had a very friendly and informative conversation. Although no final decisions have been made, she and I (sadly) are not hopeful that the pool will be saved. She showed me documents regarding repair/update costs, not only to the pool, but to the immediate surrounding areas of the pool. The pool is not ADA certified, and it has a very large leak that is loosing water very rapidly. The pool is not generating the community revenue it needs to maintain it (no surprise). One of the retired Facilities Staff members has recommended that the the pool be made into parking areas, or a splash pool (this I had heard about from other TWU staff members). And finally, the school has other needs that are taking a higher priority. I was encouraged to hear that hopefully, the public/community will be more directly involved in decision-making for the school.
I want to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication to getting the "word out", and the continuing circulation of the petition. Your voices were heard, and I believe, truly taken into heart-felt consideration.
