Reject frivolous petition against Dr Adeniran Abraham Ariyo
The Issue
Nigeria is a mutliethnical country which has seen antagonistic and unhealthy rivalries between certain ethnic groups. Regrettably, this antagonism has infected the online community. However it is our wish and desire to put a stop to these unhealthy and unnecessary rivalries.
Dr Adeniran Abraham Ariyo indeed recently made online comments and observations about political upheavals in South Africa and warned against such occurrences in his home country of Nigeria. We do not support any comments that could be construed or miscontrued towards violence against any ethnic group, individual or entities and Dr Adeniran should have and could have used more eloquent language, however while his comments were unfortunately in-eloquent and misconstrued, he did not actually call for Xenophobic attacks against anyone and the accusations against him have been grossly exaggerated and has degenerated into an unfortunate attempt at blackmail, cyber-bullying and political gamesmanship.
Dr Adeniran has already ably refuted these allegations, apologized for any misunderstanding and clarified the contents and contexts of his statements. ( http://www.bodedolu.com/i-am-not-an-igbo-hater-says-texas-based-dr-adeniran-abraham-ariyo/#sthash.cq4GpKlh.dpbs ).
We also wish to use this opportunity to call on all Nigerians and people of goodwill everywhere to condemn any attempt to turn online exchanges between individuals into an avenue to pursue ethnic agenda and to engage in cyber-bullying and slander and we wish to alert the Texas Medical Board and urge the board not to allow itself to be used as a tool of ethnic manipulation and cyber bullying.
Thank you
