An End to the Slave trade in Libya

The Issue

The slave trade in Libya has been going on far too long. Thousands of people seeking refuge are kidnapped, raped, murdered and sold by the thousands everyday. Are we going to let men and women as young as 13 be used as slaves until their bodies can endure no more, only to be dumped in the streets without even the decency of a burial? No. This is simply not the American way. Slavery as we know it happened in the 1800’s, rarely discussed outside of history class. Slavery for the millions of people in Africa is a common threat. It is no longer the white man using the color of his skin as a means to enslave. It is the man who heard of a new way to make some extra cash, and needs it to support his already struggling family. By signing this petition, we can end the slave trade, one name at a time. This is not a matter of Republicans vs Democrats. This is a question of our worlds morality.
