Ban STAAR Testing

The STAAR, or State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, has created many real problems for Texas Students and Schools. After the $280 million contract between Texas and the Texas Education Agency (TEA), it would be expected to not have misdelivered tests, lost records of test answers, and take weeks longer than promised to deliver test scores.
Under a law passed in 2015, it stated that the test would be designed for elementary schoolers to take less than two hours to take, and middle schoolers three hours. Even in the beginning of 2018, this law has not been followed.
A few years ago, the TEA administered a test without an answer. This leaves you wondering the quality of the “effective test.”
Within my community there is much hate to the STAAR test. We as students are required to sit for four hours, just to take a test that may not even be delivered.
If the STAAR test is banned, we will all have a better learning experience at school. Without being forced to teach to the test, we will be taught at our own pace. Not only following everything the Teks say. Without the STAAR test, students won’t have to wait for the dreaded test day.
The test needs to go.
