ACTION: Will you write to your MPs for help?

May 16, 2020 —

You guys are truly amazing. I know many of you originally signed this petition for frontline care workers to be tested, but have supported with also highlighting the neglect of those living with learning disabilities in care services right now and have continued on the journey of now highlighting the need for both frontline workers to be tested and those living with autism and/or a learning disability.

It has been great to hear from those of you working on the frontline in care services. It is saddening to also hear so many of you within the LD world have not been tested but friends in elderly/nursing care have.

Thanks to your pressure, the Government responded to the media and stated all care homes residents and care workers will be tested by early June You can read more here

This is reassuring.

BUT with so many LD services, residents and care workers I find it hard to believe this will be done in 15 days time. The campaign is also reaching a large number of new signers who have loved ones working or living in care services that did not realise. That’s why I’m asking for your help.

1. Will you submit a question to the press briefings here?

I have submitted the following “You have stated that all care homes and care staff will be tested by early June. How do you propose to implement this within a short space of time?”

2. Will you write to your MP here next week and ask them to raise this as a question in PMQs tomorrow?

- Mention that you are a constituent who has signed Change.org/TestCareWorkersNow along with over 300,000 other people.

- You would like the Government to provide reassurance that these tests are going to happen and ask how they feel this will be rolled out.

Please could you leave a comment on this update on if you took these actions (and your MP) so I know how many people have asked.

Thank you for making this happen.

P.s I have also featured on Channel 4 news last night to continue to raise how those living and working within a learning disability care settings are being neglected and discriminated against. Please retweet if you can,
