Terminate Officer Carter from Benbrook Police Department

Terminate Officer Carter from Benbrook Police Department
The Issue
In Benbrook, Texas, our community cherishes safety, integrity, and justice. However, recent actions by Officer Carter of the Benbrook Police Department have called these very values into question. A deeply concerning incident involving Officer Carter was captured on video and shared on YouTube (https://youtu.be/ZQvek0nMZks?si=fxuHZ0g5mp08QWQ0 where he is seen trespassing on a civilian's property and escalating a situation that should have been contained peacefully.
In the video, Officer Carter unjustifiably drew his service weapon in the absence of any discernible threat, further endangering the lives of innocent civilians. Shockingly, he discharged his weapon, resulting in the tragic shooting of the resident’s dog. More distressingly, the direction of the gunfire endangered nearby children, and an innocent woman was placed in handcuffs without cause.
Such actions are unacceptable and undermine the community's trust in law enforcement. Officers are meant to protect and serve, not instill fear and act recklessly. This behavior is not representative of the values of our community nor the principles of law enforcement. Therefore, it's crucial that decisive action is taken to ensure that such misconduct does not occur again.
We call upon the leadership of the Benbrook Police Department and the city officials to terminate Officer Carter from his duties immediately. This decision would set a powerful precedent that negligent and dangerous behavior has no place in law enforcement. Moreover, it is essential to implement a thorough review of police training and conduct policies to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Your signature on this petition can contribute to restoring trust in our police department and ensuring that community standards are upheld. Stand with us to demand accountability and initiate change within the Benbrook Police Department. Sign this petition to demonstrate that actions inconsistent with our shared values will not be tolerated.
