It’s hard to believe that July is over and we are heading into the “dog days of summer”. Time seems to pass quickly, even with the COVID-19 restrictions. Although our OMB/LPAT hearing regarding Waverly Woods/Erie Beach isn’t scheduled until next April 25, 2022, it is important that we make sure it takes place live, in Fort Erie, (COVID restrictions permitting ), rather than strictly virtual. Not everyone from the public who wants to attend has the electronic set-up and technical expertise to access an on-line meeting, so we must make sure that a local venue is secured. With high Internet usage due to the pandemic, connections are sometimes unstable, as well. In addition, our legal team and experts have advised us that a virtual Hearing will give an unfair advantage to the developer. Our lawyer has contacted the Town of Fort Erie requesting that the Council Chambers be reserved for the duration of the hearing. We need your help to make sure this is done. Please call, send a letter or email to Mayor Wayne Redekop wredekop@forterie.ca (905-871-1600 ext. 2235); and your councillorhttps://www.forterie.ca/pages/MayorCouncillors asking them to ensure that the Council chambers are available to those who wish to attend the proceedings in person. Your input on this matter is much appreciated. We hope many of you will be able to show your support for our cause by attending the hearing either in person or virtually.
