Jumbo killing angers Victoria Fall residents

On Sept 29th ZimParks rangers shot and killed a female elephant in Victoria Falls, leaving her calves orphaned.  She was part of a small herd that had been peacefully coming and going in the low-density area for years without incident, and this was a senseless killing.  The elephant's carcass was chopped up to feed to people. Actions such as this will not alleviate hunger in the longer term and will certainly drive up human-elephant conflict. They will also harm Zimbabwe's tourism sector and international reputation.
