Hello Democracy Defenders. 

   Last week, the world witnessed the murder of Renee Good, a wife, mother, and community member. A death that was directly caused by the callous kleptocrats who unleashed a horde of henchmen onto the people of Minneapolis. In spite of federal terrorism, we saw an inspiring surge of resistance, and people getting out in the street to protest the slaughter of an innocent woman and to defend their neighbors.

   The energy has even spread to state capitols across the nation, as several local leaders have been inspired by Reene's spirit and sacrifice. Where Congress has been impotent, state legislators have taken up the cause. From New Jersey, Illinois, New York, and all the way to California, legislation seeking to rein in ICE has gained momentum to prevent the tragedy of Renee Good from becoming common practice.  

   During this time of local legislative momentum, Blue states must act in unison on these issues to avoid a patchwork of protections and to grant freedom to all residents of their states. This is why our movement, Free States Forever, exists: to help Blue states form compacts at the national and regional levels to guarantee a foundational level of human rights and freedom when both are under assault.

   As the regime continues to crack down, our democratic state governments have a limited amount of time to turn our progressive regions into blue fortresses to protect our rights and freedoms. Reach out to your Democratic governors, telling them about our movement and that the time is now to start forming protective compacts for our communities. Also, share the petition with others you know in the pro-democracy movement. 

  Let us all have Renee's spirit of fearlessness in the face of oppression, and let her light continue to shine for future generations as an example of standing up to tyranny in this moment.
