Thank you for signing our petition in support of the rough sleepers and local residents building a community together at Iffley Open House! Your voices and all the donations we've received are invaluable in spreading our message and keeping our space open, safe and warm in the coldest time of the year. (Locals: donations of bedding and mattresses especially welcome!) Today, on the day that the Friends of Iffley formally welcomed us to the Iffley road area, we have been served with a repossession notice with a hearing date for THIS FRIDAY 13th at 10am. It's sad that this flys in the face of the supportive community, both locally, among students and further afield. We are working with legal professionals to attempt to postpone the hearing to ensure we can build a legal case to prevent us being thrown out onto the streets. To our surprise it was Midcounties Cooperative who issued the legal documents to us as Wadham College has still not released them from their responsibilities as the previous tenant of the building. This is great news for the campaign as both Wadham College and the Coop have the chance to live their ethical values and show compassion for Oxford’s homeless community. 3 things you can help us with today are: - Spread the Word – Over 3,500 have signed this petition in 2 days!
