Amnesty International, Transparency International, and Civicus have all backed out of the Saudi dictatorship's #G20 summit.
As stated by an Amnesty International spokesperson in January:
"Since Saudi Arabia has locked up most of its own independent activists, the only domestic organizations present will be aligned with the government - which makes a mockery of the whole process ... We cannot participate in a process which is being abused by a state which censors all free speech, criminalizes activism for women’s and minority rights, as well as homosexuality, and tortures and executes critics.”
The three organizations announced that they are not participating in what is called the "C20" -- the gathering of civil society organizations that is part of the G20 summit.
