*UPDATE: Thanks to your comments, Mountaire has publicly confirmed on its Facebook page that it does not use "nose bones." Mountaire is now the 18th of the top 20 US poultry producers to confirm that it does not use or is phasing out the practice since COK's investigation of Tyson Foods first exposed these cruel devices. Thank you for spreading your wings for birds!*

TODAY: Comment on Mountaire’s most recent Facebook post asking the poultry giant for a public response on whether it uses cruel, outdated “nose bones”! (See our sample comment below.)

Because today’s “broiler” birds are bred for unnatural, crippling rapid growth, dull plastic “nose bones” are stabbed through the sensitive nostrils of male “breeder” birds to restrict their food intake. Since Compassion Over Killing’s investigation of Tyson Foods exposed this gruesome practice, you’ve helped us confirm that 17 of the top 20 chicken producers in the nation are either eliminating or do not use these archaic devices.

However, after stating on Facebook that it doesn’t use the cruel practice, Mountaire, the 6th largest producer in the US, quickly deleted its post. Mountaire has been mum about why the post was removed--even though consumers are hungry to know for sure whether it supports brutal “nose boning.”

It’s time for Mountaire to join its competitors by issuing a permanent public statement! Please join us TODAY in posting on Mountaire’s latest Facebook post asking whether it uses the cruel devices. Click here and use our sample below or your own polite comment!

“Does Mountaire use cruel ‘nose bones’ in its broiler breeder birds? As a consumer, I urge you to join the 17 of the top 20 chicken producers in the country, including Tyson, Perdue, and Pilgrim’s, that have made public statements that they are phasing out or do not use these barbaric devices. Thank you.”
