Tell Tunbridge Wells Borough Council 'No' to Fines For Begging!
This petition had 6,327 supporters
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council are currently in-consultation with plans to introduce on-the-spot fines for people begging in the town centre. This is a heartless and useless excercise that punishes a vulnerable group of people who are actually in-need of help rather than being fined. Now that colder temperatures are here we urgently need to focus on how we can solve the issue of homelessness rather than punishing people that are begging because they have no means to live.
The council has let people know they can express their views on their website http://consult.tunbridgewells.gov.uk/portal through November 15th. Please help us communicate to Tunbridge Wells Borough Council how wrong we think this is and that we won't tolerate this type of attitude in our community.
