Dear signers,
After Lebanon, the eyes of the world are now focused on what is happening in Syria. Since last week, armed opposition groups to the regime of Bashar al-Assad have been slowly advancing from northern Syria toward the capital, Damascus.
This is a particularly sensitive and crucial time: I think you have all seen on television or on social media the images coming out of the cities of Aleppo and Idlib, the hope shining on the faces of so many civilians, but also the fear that the violence may continue, and then the concern about the future that awaits the Syrian people.
That's why it's more urgent than ever to call on the UN to protect civilians in Syria and to support a political transition that meets the Syrian people's demands for justice and democracy.
I hope to return to Syria soon and finally see joy and hope on the faces of my friends and family, and if you support me and the Syrian people today, I am sure that day will come soon.
With gratitude,
L.
