The Government has decided to make older people pay for the financial mess left by the last Government and has announced the scrapping of the Winter Fuel Payment for 10 million older people from this year and has dropped all plans to reform the social care system. Targeting of pensioners is unacceptable and if the Government axes the Winter Fuel Payment without serious opposition we can say goodbye to any other reforms of the pension system, or progress on such important issues as frozen pensions.
