On Monday, the Council's scrutiny committee considered its planned parking charge hikes and decided to return the Shrewsbury proposals to the Cabinet for reconsideration.
We are pleased that the committee was able to acknowledge the significant concerns raised by Shrewsbury BID and the broader Shropshire community regarding the proposed parking charges and strategy changes.
This outcome offers a crucial opportunity for Shropshire Council to thoroughly assess the economic implications of its proposals. We believe the Council is dramatically underestimating the impact these changes could have on the economy, and we'll continue our data-led approach to engaging with the Council and making the economic case for a fundamental rethink.
The issue will be reconsidered at a Shropshire Council Cabinet Meeting in March.
In the meantime, we encourage you to please share our petition as widely as possible! We're delighted with the number of signatures we've been able to gather so far, but this isn't the end – the more the better.
