GREAT NEWS! Thanks to the hundreds of people who have signed this petition and others like it, and voiced their opposition to campaign contributions from for-profit private prisons, California Democratic Party Chairman Eric Bauman has announced the Party will no longer accept money from corporations that profit from incarceration. Even better: money they have received for the past year will be donated to charities supporting immigrant families & assisting people released from prison as they re-enter our communities. NEXT STEP: Let's make sure the San Diego County Democratic Party follows this example. They still need to pass a local resolution to REFUSE this money as well!
