I went to Raystede on Saturday and left feeling inspired. I pop over there about once a month just to see if anything's changed. I mean, if they do change their menu they're not likely to tell me about it so I have to see for myself. Sadly, their menu remains the same but what inspired me was what I saw on notices, sign posts and toilet doors all around the sanctuary. The sticker – pictured above. (See more photos here) I don't know who did it but it's inspired!
"Love animals, don't eat them. At least 10,000 animals killed for Raystede's cafe every year." (see the previous update - Numbers - for how we know that).
Since Raystede management continue to rudely ignore us, why are we wasting our time with them? We should be speaking direct to the public. The public, on whose donations Raystede depends, deserve to know all the facts.
Imagine if all the local supporters of this campaign followed the label-maker's example. These stickers might turn up all over the place – on bus stops, on buses, on trains, on the back of public toilet doors. All over Lewes, Uckfield, Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings, and everywhere in between. Sure, they'd get ripped down but they'd keep getting replaced. Over and over until Raystede saw sense. And every person who saw one, even if only the person who ripped it off, would learn about Raystede's hypocrisy.
Oh, next weekend, 29th to 30th of June, is Raystede's Summer Fair - their busiest event of the year. Don't know what made me think of that.
