Don't Cut Local F

Apr 11, 2017
News 12 Brooklyn, the New York Daily News, and AM New York all published articles about the F Express today, highlighting the side that wants the F Express. We need to make the other side of the story heard. No one is against the F Express, but it cannot be accomplished by decimating communities along the local stops on the line.
Tweet @amNY @NYDailyNews @News12BK @NYCTSubway and @MTA to share how these cuts would affect YOU! Families, businesses, affordable and public housing residents, school children, and many others would suffer.
BACKGROUND: The F Express plan proposes 50% cuts in peak service at Fort Hamilton Pkwy, 15 St-Prospect Park, 4 Ave-9 St, Smith-9 St, Carroll St, and Bergen St stations. This will have serious and negative ramifications across several neighborhoods; from dangerous overcrowding at Bergen and Carroll Streets—two of the busiest Brooklyn stops on the F line—to reducing subway access for the already under-served residents in Red Hook (home to the 2nd largest public housing development in NYC) and the Columbia Waterfront to leaving our infrastructure unprepared for large-scale development such as what is planned for Gowanus.
If the MTA wants to add the F Express, that is great, but it should not do so by stranding residents and businesses via cuts to local service.
