Today I contacted Amazon.com and got a commitment from their customer service folks to sign and share this petition and to forward my concerns to their managers. I appreciate their willingness to listen.
I also contacted the American Veterinary Medicine Association. Here is what I wrote:
"My 5 1/2 year old Aussie, Chase, died 12/31/23 from T-Cell Lymphoma. I found out last week that the food I had fed him exclusively ("Taste of the Wild" kibbles and canned food) has been acknowledged by its manufacturer to contain carcinogenic metals and pesticides. This obscenity has been visited upon many other dogs and their owners, so I did the only things I could: I started a petition at Change.org
and filed a complaint with the Food and Drug Administration. I also notified Amazon.com, Petco, and Nationwide Pet Insurance.
Chase received expert and compassionate care from his veterinarians once he was diagnosed, but they were unable to stop this virulent disease. Please ask your members not to recommend this food to any clients. It was a veterinarian who, in 2019, recommended "Taste of the Wild" as being an excellent, healthy food. She obviously did not know of the prior lawsuits against its manufacturer.
No one else should have to go through the heartache of losing a companion pet simply because people remain silent about existing dangers. Thank you for your time."
I then wrote to Petco's press release people, hoping that they would respond positively. If you would also leave messages on these organizations' websites, it would show them that there are many thousands of people who have had enough of being sold poisons as food for their loved pets.
Thank you so much for supporting safe pet foods!
