What happens to holiday-specific merchandise (Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter etc) after the holiday passes? Often, corporations toss any leftovers.

These chocolates don't "expire" until October 2019 (six months from now), but since they're branded for Valentine's Day, CVS threw them out. Found in CVS' trash in midtown, Manhattan.
