EPA Remains Top Target for Federal Budget Cuts & Layoffs

Heal the Bay
May 23, 2017
The White House’s latest proposal, released today, has confirmed the EPA is the top target for budget and workforce cuts, to the tune of $5.65 billion. The proposal gauges funds from critical places in the United States that need it the most, and debilitates our nation's efforts to combat environmental issues and enforce public health standards.
Several major programs are completely eliminated, including water quality monitoring and the National Estuary Program, which protects and restores the water quality and surrounding watersheds for 28 estuaries of national significance located along the Atlantic, Gulf, and Pacific coasts and in Puerto Rico. Explore the local estuary programs that will be eliminated here: https://www.epa.gov/nep/local-estuary-programs
