15 years ago today we got married, on Winter Solstice in 2007. We were only married for 11 months before he took his life. Our son was just a seed in my belly, and I never got to see our wedding pics until after he died. Talk about a trip.
The nightmare I experienced, I don’t want anyone else to go through if I can help it. Widowed by suicide at the age of 30 with four small kids is no joke. It’s a miracle I survived too, as I later wanted to take my own life, especially being a Highly Sensitive Person, and all the feelings of guilt and unworthiness I felt, not to mention agony in my heart. Did you know that those who have lost a loved one to suicide, are 64% more likely to take their own life?! It almost took me out too! Thank God I have healed now, my grief journey is complete, and took me 10 years to get through. I’ve learned a lot about self-awareness, sensitivity and allostatic load (more on that later!) Today my heart is hope-filled and liberated, and is why I write and advocate for others!
Thank you for signing this petition, and supporting linking 911 calls to NICS. Thank you for helping to save precious lives, who really don’t want to die, they want their pain to stop. They want their allostatic load to be lighter, and be more manageable. Inside they even want help, they just don’t know how to ask for it, is easier to push away, or are too ashamed to admit they need it. There is no shame in getting help my friends! Asking for help is straight up STRENGTH. It’s ok to not be ok! It’s okay to, and crucial to, slow down and take care of you. We need to meet each other, and our selves, with kindness, compassion and empathy. It starts with us!
Thank you for helping to protect our loved ones, to be safe from making a permanent decision, for a temporary problem. If we could only buy them precious time to get help, and stop the gun sale from ever happening in the first place.
This bill, Matty’s Bill, will do just that!
It will also prohibit a gun sale to those who have been flagged as a threat to others. The numbers of mass shootings and suicides will go down!
