Combermere Parents Protecting Our Children

Jul 7, 2020
The Township of Madawaska Valley voted unanimously this afternoon not to rezone the Bent Anchor property to “commercial” so as to allow for a Cannabis retail outlet.
This means that the Bent Anchor will not be able to proceed with their plans to open a pot shop in Combermere.
The Mayor and Town Councilors made it clear that their decision was based on the merits of the Bent Anchor’s application which they pointed out failed to satisfy existing “planning” laws.
“I also have problems with the access, flood plain, legal issues, parking, a number of issues. For me, from a planning perspective, it doesn’t make sense,” said one of the Councillors during the meeting.
Concerned parents, grandparents, neighbors will be dropping their boycott of the Bent Anchor. This page will be deleted shortly.
Thanks to all those who wrote letters to the township, signed the petition, and joined in the campaign.
We protected our village, our children, our future.
