Pine Island Developer Resubmits Application

The Pine Island developer has refiled their application to remove close to 500 acres from St. Helena Island’s Cultural Protection Overlay (CPO) through a zoning map amendment.
We anticipate they will also ask Beaufort County to stay the litigation, and we expect they will file an accompanying development agreement application in the next couple of weeks.
This marks the 3rd attempt to get the golf resort proposal on St. Helena Island approved with the Beaufort County Council, after being denied most recently in September 2025. That meeting went until about 2:00 AM and over 500 people attended.
We need to show up and speak up peacefully at upcoming meetings on 9/14 and 10/5. In the meantime, contact your council members and encourage them to support the CPO boundaries and allow the judicial process to run its course.
We will keep y’all posted as the situation evolves and appreciate your support and tenacity! Thank you!
