The Pine Island golf resort developers want to build a 930-foot bulkhead with rip-rap rocks and a living shoreline. You can review the full proposal here. Bulkheads are known to exacerbate erosion and starve marshes of sediment. While living shorelines are a preferred alternative to mitigate erosion, a living shoreline may not be suitable for this site.
