Hello it’s me again. Second update in a week. So I met with the Project manager for Phase 3 of the Southwater Development on Today. He was kind enough to show me the plans for the “Public Space” in Southwater. Firstly he confirmed that the consultation that is taking place this week is for the “Public Space” and not really for the adjoining hotel. The long and the short of it is that the council want a smaller space for events like Christmas Markets and Concerts. However the presence of a hotel right on top of this space concerns me. Only a relatively small chunk of land has been given when you compare it to the space that will be given over to a hotel. Now my own personal feeling is that this is not enough space for the public. The Council say they have listened to us but many feel annoyed that so little space has been left for the community. Many speak of the picnic that have took place before the Boyzone concert last year. I am told there will be planning permission going in for this hotel in the near future. So it seems like the consultation is an empty gesture. Therefore we need to show the council that we demand that they reconsider the space that they have allocated. We need to tell them that we want a bigger space in Southwater. So if you feel like I do and can attend the consultation then make your feelings know. Simply say . . . “MORE COMMUNITY SPACE PLEASE!” If you can’t attend the consultation then you can email planning.control@telford.gov.uk and let them know what you want from Southwater Phase 3. Alternatively you can email your councillor.
