Today we reached 100 signatures and I am beyond ecstatic!

I have received several questions about the program we plan to implement on the school campuses. I thought I would take this quick update to share.

Our program goes beyond the typical informational or scare tactic based programs, which are ineffective. Both prevention and treatment programs will implement the latest evidence based therapeutic practices, involve group counseling sessions, will have an emphasis on developing healthy coping skills, and work toward developing better social and emotional skills. The prevention program is for those considered at risk and will focus on developing these skills for everyday life as a way of avoiding future addiction or substance abuse issues, even if the student eventually chooses to use. The treatment program is for students currently using and will focus heavily on helping create a new outlook on life and honing these skills so that the underlying reason behind their addiction can be treated. The treatment program will involve one on one sessions with their counselor and, if there is a dual diagnosis, the student will also meet with a therapist regularly.

If you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.
