Whitton Against Turing HouseTwickenham, ENG, Великобритания

I received this email below this morning from Richmond Council. To hold a Council meeting regarding a petition the signatures have to reach 1000 in quantity. We have 1,637 signatures on Change.org and 150 signatures from canvassing. Building on the Whitton site has been hotly debated on the Internet and in person at meetings. There has been involvement from at least 12 Ward Councillors, and been subject to local Press exposure on at least four separate occasions. Despite this Richmond Council would appear to think that this is all irrelevant and no meeting will take place unless they receive 1000 signatures on the petition on their website, absolutely ridiculous. Richmond Council should have held a PUBLIC meeting in WHITTON already considering the uproar it has caused so far. I have sent Richmond Council the tweet on Twitter below. THE EMAIL "With reference to your ePetition request No to Turing House School in Whitton Dear Mr Turner, I am writing to confirm that we are provisionally scheduling your petition for a debate at the Council meeting on 15 September 2015. This is of course subject to it obtaining the necessary number of valid signatures. Regards, Gary Lelliott Democratic Services" Democratic !! nothing democratic about Turing House coming to Whitton. On RC website the petition runs until 20 October 2015 yet Gary Lelliott states that a meeting would be held one month BEFORE the petition ends ?, makes no sense UNLESS behind the scenes 15 September is when they have completed the deal on the Whitton land.
