Our petition now leads on AI, and I have made the Government an offer

To everyone who has already signed, thank you. Nearly 2,000 of you now stand behind this, and it matters more than you know.

I am writing with an update, and a sharpening of our ask. Everything we called for still stands: emotional literacy, digital safety and AI education for every child. But one of those has become urgent in a way I could not have predicted when we began.

Four in five children aged eleven to sixteen now use an AI chatbot. One in three has told it something they would not tell a parent, a teacher or a friend. Companies are writing constitutions for their machines, teaching them human values and human skills faster than we are teaching our own children. And this year Meta agreed to pay up to $17 billion to settle claims that it built its platforms to be addictive to children, the largest technology settlement in history.

So we are making AI our focus. We are asking the Government to teach AI as a subject in its own right, from the primary years, with the same standing as maths and English. Not buried inside Computing. Not left until 2028. China, the UAE, South Korea, Singapore, Estonia, India, Canada and the United States are already moving. England is behind.

And I have made the Government an offer, not just a demand. I will give every state school in England a HeadZone licence, free, for a year, close to £100 million of value at the published Government price. It is not money I have. It is money I am choosing not to earn, because I do not believe our children can wait for their future to be questioned.
