For years the health & well-being of our children has declined due to a lack of funding and prioritisation from the government. We believe two public health taxes can find the necessary funds to tackle child ill health, emotional distress and poverty.
📱 Increase the Digital Services Tax from 2% to 6%.
🍩 Enact the High Fat Salt & Sugar Junk Food Tax.
This could raise an estimated £4 billion annually, which we propose be utilised for crucial childhood initiatives such as:
🧡 Therapeutic provision in every primary & secondary school
🧡 Free school meals for primary aged students
🧡 A national play strategy
🧡 A new Child Poverty Act
🧡 A fit-for-purpose Personal, Social, Health Education curriculum with a dedicated resource budget.
These positive taxes would not only help children but also improve adult health and reduce NHS costs by addressing obesity, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and other preventable conditions.
