The Golden Bay Grand Stand Community Trust Inc (Trust) and the Golden Bay A&P Association (Association) are pleased to announce that they have chosen to discontinue the legal action they commenced against Tasman District Council (TDC) in June 2018. This decision follows TDC's Full Council resolution of 19 March 2020 in which the Council committed to the restoration of the grandstand and acknowledged the Association's protected use rights at the Golden Bay Recreation Park (as contained in the Reserves and Other Lands Disposals Act 1959).

Both the Trust and Association are looking forward to working constructively with the Council and community to ensure not only the reinstatement of the grandstand but also ongoing appropriate access to and use of the showgrounds and buildings for the A & P Association Annual Show, and the appointment of a Golden Bay Recreation Park Management Committee for the ongoing management of the grounds.

The focus now is on building a positive and constructive relationship with TDC to ensure that the community of Golden Bay has access to and can benefit from all the facilities at the Golden Bay Recreation Park.

Please note that because of the pandemic it has been difficult to actually take the next steps towards ensuring the grandstand's future. Once things start progressing we will be able to provide a clearer update on what is going to happen next. Until then we are keeping this petition up and running.
