Monument removal update.....
I have not given an update in a while but that’s because we have busy behind the scenes having conversations and making phone calls and today those efforts paid off. The commissioners court held a special meeting today to decide whether to move forward with the July 7th meeting about the removal of the monuments in light of COVID. The court confirmed that we WILL move forward with the meeting, taking extra precautions for the health and safety of participants.
The special meeting will be held at the Performing Arts Center in Bastrop at 9:00 am. Masks will be required, temperature checks at the door, and social distancing will be enforced.
It’s an open public meeting and anyone who wants to speak will be able to speak for three minutes. Our petition is at 6,765 signatures, and support from community church leaders and businesses are rising.
What we need from the you: save the date and come out in support or to speak... if you can’t make the meeting but want your voice to be heard, complete the citizens comment form below and submit it to the County court Clerk contact information below.
