I wanted to provide an update regarding the recent developments concerning CTRS positions within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

I received an email from a current employee who has worked with the department for 18 years.

She clarified that the VA is not specifically cutting CTRS positions. Instead, the majority of the individuals affected were probationary employees, a common occurrence during budget cuts.

Despite this clarification, our petition continues to advocate for the specific listing of recreational therapy as exempt from any future layoffs due to budget constraints.

It's crucial to emphasize that recreational therapists provide essential direct care, significantly impacting the outcomes for veterans.
