Title/Subject: Action Needed: Maui Memorial Hospital Needs Help!!! Take Back Maui Memorial Medical Center!

Discussion: The Hawaii Health Systems Corporation leased Maui Memorial Medical Center to Kaiser Foundation Hospitals in 2017.  It is a public/private partnership that made numerous promises to improve health services on Maui.

Dr. Yan will review these promises and the failure to meet them, leading to serious gaps in care and an environment that is hostile to medical care being provided by local physicians and healthcare workers and a leadership that fails to create systems conducive to retention of physicians and staff and the lack of collaborative ethos from the leadership to properly provide a top notch healthcare system for the Maui community.

A petition has been started to hold Maui Health System accountable for their failure to deliver on their promises (https://www.change.org/p/take-back-maui-memorial-medical
center) and their inaction in removing unethical actors from their clinical duties and responsibilities in order to ensure patient safety.  

What is HALE Hawai’i? It is a statewide grassroots progressive group. Their
Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/HALEHawaii808/ , and their website is https://halehawaii.cc They originally focused on pandemic issues, but they are expanding the kuleana to include other issues such as affordable housing, government transparency, and the environment.
