'The Magicians' introduced us to Quentin Coldwater, a bright but mentally ill grad student who believes life has no meaning. Over the course of four seasons Quentin discovers magic is real, falls in love with two of his best friends, and saves magic three times from monsters who plague the world. Last night viewers were left heartbroken when Quentin decides that in order to truly save magic, he has to kill himself. Only after his death does Quentin discover that he was loved and really actually mattered in life. He doesn't get the ending he deserves, he gets an ending based on shock value and making fans feel as though suicide is the right option. A horrible and extremely DANGEROUS message is being sent to fans and the showrunners believe this choice is right. It isn't. 

Viewers like myself are broken about this, Sera Gamble and John McNamara are sending the message to fans that if you are mentally ill and or LGBT you do not deserve a happy ending. This is not the ending that Quentin Coldwater deserves, this is not the ending that the fans deserves.
