Switching to an 8 day week globally.

The Issue

Introduction
Who hasn't felt the clock ticking as soon as you enter the weekend? The first day is spent winding down, the second day is spent preparing for tomorrow. No day to relax to yourself.

What's the problem?
Many of us have faced the creeping exhaustion of long work weeks, and personally, the impact of overwork has taken a significant toll on my wellbeing. The relentless cycle of a 7-day week often leaves little room for genuine rest and recovery, pushing some of us towards burnout. It affects the entire population.

Current studies indicate that burnout not only affects mental and physical health, but has also been estimated to cost the global economy trillions of dollars annually. With the constant pressure to perform, many people find themselves working excessive hours, leading to diminished productivity, creativity, and overall life satisfaction.

What's the solution?
The best possible solution to this escalating problem is the adoption of an 8-day week. By introducing an additional day dedicated to rest and relaxation, we could create a healthier balance between work and leisure. A revolutionary shift to an 8-day week would entail a 5-day work week, followed by 3 days of rest, which could substantially improve quality of life and economic productivity.

This change is not just feasible, but necessary. Countries around the world have experimented with shorter work weeks, such as the 4-day work week, showing promising results in terms of worker satisfaction and productivity. By expanding on these ideas and formalizing an 8-day week, we can address the pervasive issue of burnout, ensuring a more sustainable future for our workforce and economy.

We urge global leaders, economists, policy makers, and all of you to accommodate this adjustment. Implementing an 8-day week may seem radical, but so was the five-day work week once! Let us take this bold step for a better work-life balance.

Sign this petition to call upon world leaders to consider transitioning to an 8-day week. Together, we can foster an environment where rest is prioritized, productivity is optimized, and life satisfaction peaks. LETS MAKE THIS A REALITY!!

What would we name this new day?
Originally, these days were named after the celestial bodies. And later some were renamed after gods and a goddess.
The best suggestion I have is to have the new day in between Saturday and Sunday, and have it named Eirday. Named after Eir, the Norse goddess of healing, Following the naming pattern of the other days.
