Reuters has reported that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has publicly voiced concern for Iranian athletes amid the ongoing unrest in Iran, stating that it is monitoring the situation and remains in contact with members of Iran’s Olympic community. This acknowledgment confirms that the IOC is aware of the grave crisis facing Iranian athletes and citizens.

However, concern alone is not enough. The Olympic Movement must uphold its principles of human dignity and justice through meaningful action. We urge the IOC and the Milano Cortina 2026 Organising Committee to take concrete steps in response to the atrocities unfolding in Iran.
