Surrey County Council have introduced parking charges in car parks on Common Land across the County. This restricts public access to the Common Land and inhibits their legal commoner rights. It discriminates against the less well off and the elderly who may not be able to afford the parking charges for what used to be a free public amenity. It is also making it more difficult for people to exercise, walk their dogs and play with their children on Common Land. The public are voting with their feet and boycotting these charges, sadly leading to the sight of empty car parks and deserted Common Land. Please express your support for the removal of these parking charges, so the Common Land across Surrey can be returned with free and easy acccess to the people of Surrey.
