Hi everyone,

Today at 113 days hunger strike, Miqdad Qawasmeh signed a deal with the occupation for firm end date to his detention of Feb 2022 and that the detention will nor be renewed. He has ended his open hunger strike as a result.

We can celebrate that Miqdad will be returning to his family soon. 

However, let's also remember that Miqdad is imprisoned for nothing to begin with. He was never charged, or had a trial.  So how can the occupation continue to justify to holding him until February. We will have to keep watch to make sure it happens! As the UN Special Experts said just a couple of weeks ago, Israel's use of administrative detention falls well outside an acceptable use outlined in International Law; the demanded all administrative detainees be charged and tried or release immediately. 

And let's also be mindful there are still 5 prisoners on hunger strike, many of whom are still at risk of losing their lives.

So celebrate and breath a bit. Then make sure to continue to stand up for human rights and write to your governments to demand they stand up for the rights of Palestjnians and take action that backs up their vote at the UN this week (156 countered voted yes to Palestinian self-determination, so now they need to back it up with action!).
