on January 18th, 2015 a tragic event occurred in Santa Clara County, one that should jail great outrage from all who read and heard about the case as it gained national traction when one, Brock Allen Turner, was caught IN THE ACT of committing sexual assault on an unconscious woman behind a dumpster. Had the two bystanders from Sweden not intervened who knows how far things would have been carried by the now sex offender Brock Allen Turner. However after facing five felony charges of sexual assault and having two of them dismissed Turner was sentenced to a mere 6 months in a county jail followed by three months of probation for charges that carry 14 years of federal prison time for anyone else. The sentence itself is not only disrespectful to the victim, but all other victims of such crimes as well and here's the kicker..... Turner is being let out on Friday after only HALF serving of his originally laughable sentence. Ruling Judge Aaron Pensky decided a full sentence would be to harsh of a sentence and "ruin this young mans" life. Turner's father claimed the sentence to be too harsh for "a mere 30 minutes of action". If you google Brock Turners name on the first search page it talks about how he is a swimmer for Stanford by the end. What it should say is that Brock Turner is a rapist from Stanford, he smiled in his mugshots, he showed no remorse for his actions. Transcripts have recently been released saying that turner was laughing after being caught by these two upstanding citizens. This entire case is not only an outrage to the victim but the entire country as a whole. What behavior as a nation do we condone if this is the punishment for such a heinous crime. I urge all who read this petition to sign it to not only make an example out of the monster that is Brock Turner, but to also set the tone and standard for the entire nation to show that rape will not be tolerated nor sexual assault of any kind.
