Support Yelo Cafe Trigg

The issue

We love Yelo café in Trigg but not everyone does.

The City of Stirling has commenced legal action against Yelo, accusing it of breaching planning approval. The action is dealing with trivial issues like ensuring the use of the Yelo veranda is limited to 20 people and that Yelo has no more than five tables.

If Yelo is found to be at fault when the Magistrate hears case in November, its owner could face a fine of up to $1 million.

This sort of fine has the potential to shut Yelo down.

We have lived in Trigg for over 25 years and Yelo is the best thing to happen to the suburb since the beach. It is a place for the community to meet, hang out, drink good coffee, eat good food and relax. It is now an important and positive part of the social fabric of Trigg,

The City of Stirling should stop wasting rate payers money and take a common sense approach to this issue by ceasing this legal action and, if required, give Yelo the approvals they need to get on with their business and keep serving happy customers.
