Blind Graduates Forum of India, the NGO that initiated this campaign has submitted a representation on behalf of Blind community in India to Honorable Governor, Reserve Bank of India and Honorable Finance Ministry, Government of India. The representation highlights the issues of persons with visual impairment in accessing all modes of making monetary transactions – bank notes, coins, websites, apps and ATMs and proposes specific recommendations. This representation factors inputs captured from several Totally Blind and Low Vision individuals from across India, NGOs actively working for them, extensive study of research papers and their relevance to current Indian scenario and bench marking of international best practices. The Department of Currency Management team of RBI had invited BGFI team for a meeting on 19 September 2017 on accessible currency and their inputs have been factored. Let’s hope we receive a positive response from the decision makers. We need your support to reach out to more number of people who can sign this petition and show their support for the cause.
