UPDATE (& Intro for our new supporters):

Thank you all for your ongoing support, and continued conversation around, and sharing of this petition!

Seasoul Sauna, a small community-focused business on the Aspendale foreshore, is facing an uncertain future as its lease renewal comes before Kingston Council this August.

Founded by Amy Salisbury, named one of Kingston’s Women of the Year in 2024, Seasoul has grown into a valued local wellbeing sanctuary. It’s not a franchise or large-scale operation, but a hand-built, sustainably operated space that supports mental, physical, and social health for residents and visitors alike.

From creating a thriving cold water therapy community to supporting local employment, Seasoul Sauna has become a quiet but impactful contributor to Kingston’s wellbeing and economic vibrancy. The business is supported by the Mordialloc Sailing Club, under which it operates, and aligns closely with the council’s goals for community connection and health.

However, concerns have been raised around the process currently underway regarding its lease renewal. Despite broad community support and a strong operational track record, the business owner has not been afforded direct communication with council officers, and key stakeholders, such as the sailing club, have reportedly been left out of the loop on important decisions and meetings.

This has left the community questioning the transparency and fairness of the process, particularly given that a single objector appears to have had significant access and influence. There is a growing call for more open dialogue, clearer communication, and a fair go for a small business that has contributed so positively to the area. This is adversely affecting the mental health and wellbeing of Amy and the rest of us.

The upcoming council vote on August 25 will be a defining moment. Supporters are simply asking for a fair and constructive process, (one that is afforded to all other local small businesses, via council contractual obligations) one that gives Seasoul Sauna the opportunity to continue serving the Kingston community in the spirit of wellbeing, sustainability, and inclusion.

If you would like to join us at the council meeting, or make some calls to Counsellors, please contact me directly via L_PETTIFER@OUTLOOK.COM - otherwise, please share this petition with anyone you haven't yet sent it to!

Thank you again xx Lisa and everyone else from the Save Seasoul Sauna Campaign
